Ranbir kapoor is grandson of Raj kapoor and was named after his grandfather name He was born in 28th September 1982 (37 years) Birthplace Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.He also has a elder sister Riddhima Kapoor.He used to be called ganglu by his grandfather and his nick name is ganglu and daboo.

Study and early career :-

Ranbir schooling was done in bombay scottish school although he was not too bright in studies,After his 10th standard exam he went USA with his father Rishi Kapoort to assist him for the movie "Aa ab Laut Chalen as rishi was self directing the movie and kept Ranbir as assistant.

Ranbir was the first to have cleared 10th board exams in first attempt from his family and also completed his graduation from H.R.College of Commerce and Economics.

Later he went "Lee Strasberg theater and film institute" to study acting in New York,while learning acting he made 300 short films he is so passionate about films that he always keeps on reading about films,not just acting but also about technicality of making a film.

Debut, Link ups and failure in love :-

Ranbir was hardworking from the start,it is said in 2005 during shooting "Black" movie while assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali he also did cleaning work to lighting for the same he got a scolding from his father.In an interview with "Anupama chopra film companion unfiltered"show while answering to fans question he considered the time of 1 and a half year as defining moment of his life.

Ranbir debuted as a lead actor from "Saawariya" in 2007 directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali however movie was flop but he earned a name for him and the towel song "Jab Se Tere Naina" got him a chocolate boy image between everyone.
